About Regional Nodes

Connecting National Strategy to Regional Action
The National Network for Microelectronics Education (NNME) is built as a national system with regional execution. Regional Nodes are the delivery mechanism.
They translate national strategy into coordinated, on-the-ground action, aligning education, industry, and workforce systems to deliver real pathways into semiconductor careers.
The Challenge
The U.S. talent pipeline is constrained by systemic barriers:
- Misalignment between training and industry needs
- Limited access to high-quality programs
- Outdated systems that cannot keep pace with innovation
- Fragmented pathways that make it difficult to enter and advance
Regional Nodes change this.

The Role of Regional Nodes
Regional Nodes are designed to address these challenges directly. They bring together employers, education providers, workforce organizations, and community partners to operate as a coordinated regional ecosystem within the NNME national framework.
Regional Nodes:

Align stakeholders around shared workforce goals

Modernize training to reflect real industry demand
Expand access to high-quality education and career pathways

Connect individuals to high-demand semiconductor careers
How Regional Nodes Are Led
Each Regional Node is led by a designated lead organization responsible for convening partners and driving execution. Node organizations can include:
- Postsecondary institutions and training providers
- Semiconductor employers and industry partners
- Workforce development organizations
- Economic development and community partners
These partners operate as a coordinated consortium, not as independent efforts. Each Node is accountable for delivering outcomes aligned with national NNME priorities, while responding to the specific needs and strengths of its region.

Connected to a National System
Regional Nodes do not operate in isolation. They are part of a unified national network coordinated by the NNME Hub.
- Shared infrastructure and digital platforms
- Industry-aligned curriculum and standards
- Technical assistance and operational support
- Performance tracking and accountability frameworks
This ensures consistency, quality, and scalability across all regions.
National Coordination. Regional Impact.
Each Node reflects the unique strengths of its region. But all operate within a shared national framework that ensures alignment, consistency, and collective impact. This model allows NNME to scale effectively while remaining responsive to local industry demand.
